It would seem the Musashi has been found! https://mobile.twitter.com/PaulGAllen/status/572431062522982400/photo/1
From here it looks like the Imperial Chrysanthemum crest on the bow is missing. From the Yamato Still, If Paul Allen did indeed find the Musashi...I don't think the Japanese government is going to be to happy about it.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2978855/Legendary-Japanese-battleship-3-000ft-Pacific-Microsoft-billionaire.html that's a big one...both the Big Big boys took a lot of pounding before succumbing to airpower...sorry , I just saw gromit put this up before ..disregard and delete please a ''big'' find.....I just saw it on the main headline of DailyMail, and thought I was ''dreaming''....what it doesn't show is the pain, blood, horror of the battle....Tak, why wouldn't they be happy? scavengers?? wouldn't the families be ''relieved'', a little?? I put up another thread on this, so please delete it...
They mentioned it on NPR this morning and it was mentioned yesterday over on the IJN board. They seemed convinced.

Sorry, did not see the other post but can answer this mystery.... "From here it looks like the Imperial Chrysanthemum crest on the bow is missing." Skipper already has it ! Gaines
A very interesting find. A lot of ink has been spilled about the Yamato class (the Japs even made a TV animation sci-fi series about it postwar), but the ships were really an expensive waste.

I can't wait to see what else Paul Allen will release. As I have been wondering, since the wreck of the Yamato was found, how intact the hull is. I've been hoping the Musashi's hull was relatively intact, as she would have been mostly flooded when she sank. Oh well. Time will tell.
Yes. The Japanese government has been very protective of the wreck of the Yamato. IIRC, the have turned down several requests to go down to the Yamato wreck. I can see their point, as a few expeditions to Titanic did cause some damage to her wreck.
