I had the great opportunity to live in an ex-Captain's barracks on the old Soviet Army Base (Borne Sulinowo) in Poland for several years. The history of the place was fantastic...it was the largest Soviet base outside of USSR and the base was abandoned in the early 90's and "reclaimed" by Polish citizens. Prior to and during WWII, the base was called GrossBorn and served as one of the major Panzer training bases and I believe both Rommel and Guderian were commanders at this location. Many of the old German buildings still exist and the architecture is very distinct when compared to the Soviet modernizations. The purpose of the thread is to ask if any members have any other information about this military base (during the German and Soviet eras).

I was going to say the same thing but Jeff beat me to it. I take it your a fan of: Andy Griffith and The Andy Griffith Show? So far i've got the first 4 seasons on DvD and looking to complete it at least to the 6th season. It wasn't much the same after Barney and some of the others left. The Otis Campbell (the town drunk) character was one of my favorites.

Everyone in Mount Airy is a fan of the show (or at least if they're not they know to keep their mouths shut). It is amazing how many tourists we get to visit Mayberry and Pilot Mountain (Mount Pilot in the show). In fact, I live about two blocks from Floyd's barber Shop and the Snappy Lunch.
BTW...C Evans, I grew up in Corpus and really miss the Gulf coast.

92, as Floyd said. We named the first two dogs we got after we married, Floyd the Barber and Barney Fife. I think I'll name my next dog Ernest T. Bass.
