    1. Your Name: John Correia Silvia III
What would you like to be called?: Old School Air Force
How did you come up with your member-name? 22 years of my Dad's (SMSgt. John C. Silvia Jr.) service starting at Sampson AFB in upstate New Your in 1952; 30 years of my own USAF service and now 4 out of 6 years completed for my son SSgt. Silvia

    2. Age: How old are you? 53
How long have you been interested in WWII? Since I started life at F.E. Warren AFB in 1957; and had stand -by inspections from my Dad the T_ / DI at Sheppard AFB - it follows that my favoritte movies as a kid were WWII combat films.

    3. Origins: Where are you from? 2nd generation Portuguese imigrants from New Bedford; Glocester and Provincetown. Grandfathers were no kidding whalers / fishermen in the early part of the 20th century. They came in off the water during WWII to work the War Production mills in SE Massachusetts.

    4. Specifics: What areas of WWII are you interested in? AAC / AAF early USAF History
What would you like to know more about? Right now I'm working with a lady to find out about her Dad's service in WWII. I have no idea how the HQ CO 2ND BN 129TH INF fit into the scheme of thigs - she is particularly interested in his Bronze Star Medal and the narritive. Like everybody elses' records; St. Luios Records Center fire buggered up some of that archival material.

    5. Hobbies: What sort of Hobbies do you have? Astronomy, American Flyer Trains; Military Service small arms (US); stamp collecting; Harley rider (not just an owner - mine gets dirty and ridden); also collect WWII colar brass; specialty badges; and Home Front / Sweet Heart memorbilia
Are any related to World War II?
    Wargaming?
    Video-games?
    Memorabilia? See answer above
Visiting historic sites? USe to live on Okinawa for two years - go a good apreciation for the geography and the kind of ordinace expended there (used to wash up on beaches still in the 1960's after storms.

    6. Other: What other time periods are you interested in?
Specific eras? Cold War - SAC
Why? My dad used to serve on Texas Towers off the coast of Cape Cod in middle 50's:aa_usa:

    7. Miscellaneous: Anything else you'd like to share with us? Nope

Welcome to the forum Old School Air Force, is OSAF okay? Glad to see you here and look forward to reading your posts. I'm sure you will find plenty of helpful information and directions from some of the people on here. Was the 129th in the SWPA?

Welcome, John. Sounds like the military is in your bloodlines.

You'll find this a friendly and informative place. You sound like you'll fit right in. Post when and where you feel comfortable.

Hi again, Just responded in your other thread but I'm not much help I'm afraid. Check out the Hyperwar site. One of the members here is directly involved with it and it is a wealth of information. Others will be along to assist ya' and I've no doubts you'll get sound advice.
