If authenticated, the discovery will rewrite the printing history of Korea and the world. The oldest evidence so far of human metal type printing technology is "Jikji," a Buddhist scripture published in a Korean provincial temple in 1377, some 70 years ahead of German goldsmith Johannes Gutenberg's production of his typeset Bibles. The Jikji is currently kept in the National Library of France.
