Hi I was hoping some one would help me out in telling me if this flag is fake or not. I was thinking of purchasing it and the guy wants $250. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Too difficult to tell from these photos but I dont think its good. Heres why? I dont like the look of the grommets-grommets appear to be of a very cheap quality and I dont like the looks of the ink stamps date and such. I have one flag-which is an early party flag and not a war flag. Mine was made between 1923 to 1935 and the date can barely be seen on it-cant be seen when pics are taken-its THAT faint.

Anyway, I dont like the look of the grommets, the lack of "age" to it. The material making the flag I guess could be many diff types but it doesnt seem to resemble the material used in the making of mine. The flag doesnt "smell" good to me. However, what I say is merely an opinion and im probably wrong on it and I am NO expert on flags, im basing my opinion on the flag I have, and flags I have handled. I dont like the pure white look either, no matter how carefully these things are stored, acids from peoples skin touching it over the years, as well as acids from other clothes, paper, wood and such-SHOULD have caused at least some yellowing to the white areas.

Anyway, with it not in my hands to get to feel the material, to be able to smell the flag-and yes, I am serious about smelling the material-you can tell the difference by smell even if smell is faked) its just too hard at least for me-to flat out say yes or no in it. All I can do is give an educated opinion on it based on what I own and have seen first hand.

    Best regards-C.

PS, for a "War Flag" in what appears pristine condition to be priced @ ONLY $250---leaves a bad smell in the air IMO.

Thanks, I talked to the guy about the history of the flag and he didn't have much to say. He said it came with some guns he had purchased and he didn't know much about it. If I had aquired a flag like this I would try to know everything about it, so it seemed fishy. Any one else have any opinions ?
