    Hi all,

I'm a complete novice when it comes to WWII research, and I understand that I need to send off for info from the MOD as next of kin for any specific regiment details etc for my grandad but I was wondering if anyone might be able to suggest anything that might help as an alternative?

All I know was that my grandad was from Edmonton, London, started off helping during the Blitz I think, clearing up rubble, rescuing/recovering people from the wreckage. Then he was in North Africa as a Dessert Rat apparently, and then took part in the advance on Monte Cassino and from there went up through to Austria. But I really don't know much else.

Short of going to the MOD are there any other clues I could find?

    Any comments would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Kayleigh
