Stumbled across this web site today and found it very interesting. Enough so to actually join. Not something that I usually do anymore since I developed an aversion to volunteering / signing up for things after some semi-exciting adventures in a former life time. So, greetings to all and many thanks to the creators, and moderators, of this site. BTW if anyone has any info (especially first hand) on airborne ops during the war please contact me. Same goes for air operations (bombers, and ops by US fighter aircraft from forward located fields) in Europe and the Pacific. DB
Welcome on board. The avatar is a famous German propaganda montage to make Churchill appear as a gangster. The original picture shows Churchill inspecting the Thompson of a soldier.
Thanks Skipper. I wondered where that pic (the avatar) had originally come from, but I liked it as it seemed to fit. Only thing that I would change, to make it more personal, is to have Mr. C. dressed in an Hawaiian shirt. Good cigar, loud shirt, and a Thompson.
DB Welcome to the Forum. I have personal accounts from airborne veterans. What are you looking for in particular? Steve W.
