Just received the 2004 BBMF Programme....

Thought our members from the Low Countries might like to know that the Lancaster is due to appear over Assen in the Netherlands on May 2nd.

This will be one of its only two appearances outside the UK this year ( the other being over Normandy on 6/7 June ).

Hello Popski - it must be something connected with the 60th Anniversary.

June 6th it will overfly Arromanches together with one of the BBMFs Spitfires ; June 7th the Lancaster is just on the list as 'Normandy'. On June 5th the BBMF DC3 Dakota will appear over St. Mere-Eglise

    2 in fact, SignalCorp.

This one - PA474 - flying in Britain with the BBMF, and there's also FM213 flying with Canadian Warplane Heritage in Ontario.

Martin, do you know why Assen? I might go over there to see this baby.

I saw her last (live) in flight in 1985(! ) when she flew over the former drop-sites of Operation Manna. She flew with a hurricane and a spit and a couple of C130's. What a sight!

Then it will be for the Liberation festivities. May 4 is Holland's Day of Rememberance. May 5th the Day of Liberation. First we remember, then we party.

Thanks for the link, Martin. When you look at the list it is comforting that they still have such a busy schedule and so many events are being planned in which the efforts of these men and planes are remembered...
