So it's near the end of the war and the Germans want to hit a specific target using jets. Using a couple of their XXI Type Uboats they devise a way to place a few navigational beacons in the Irish Sea for example.

Would the British have to find it first or could they just jam it to defeat it? how long would it take to jam an unexpected signal? How big would the buoy/transmitter have to be?
Would it matter if it came from and unexpected direction?

    Thanks in advance.

The British were jaming or misdirecting German raids from fairly early in the war. They were also monitoring frequences for a number of reasons.

Have a look at a few sites reference RAF Defford and the Malvern area as a whole. It was one massive radar and Technical testing area in the war. And after. Always online. Still is.

Thank you but even I knew that much :). If anyone could be more specific as to how and how long it would take to deal with an unexpected beacon from and unexpected source please let me know.

Where in the Irish sea are you putting them? This doc takes us up to 1945. The Malvern boys did not slow down in fact unlike the RAF they increased their output and testing on early warning etc.

This belongs in the Alternate History forum, not the Information Requests area. I'm closing it. Re-post where it belongs, and wait for it to be moderated. It does NOT meet the standards as it is written.
