Lowell F. Bowers (1927 - 2008) Lowell F. Bowers, 81, of Alvordton, Ohio died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Montpelier. Born Feb. 8, 1927, at West Unity, to Thelma (Stantz) and Ernest Bowers, he married Margaret C. Pollock on March 21, 1949, at Angola, Ind., and she survives. A graduate of West Unity High School, he was a veteran of the United States Navy and World War II. He worked at the Sutton Super Value as a meat cutter and later retired from Sauder Woodworking. He was a lifetime member of the Pioneer VFW Post 8628. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children, Leanna C. Bowers of Alvordton and Owen A. (and wife, Cindy) Bowers of Archbold; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two brothers; and one sister. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. in the Madison Church of God, County Road N-65, Montpelier. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the church with Pastor Walter Hicks to officiate.
