Aye, right! Madonna wants to remake Casablanca - and of all the places in all the world, she plans to set it in war-torn Iraq | the Daily Mail
Iraq? Sounds like it may turn into a political vehicle. If it is going to be anything like her other films we have a snooze-fest in the making.
I have several issues with this; Madonna Is in no way, shape, age or form remotely close to Ingrid Bergman. Im sorry, Maybe 20 years ago she could have pulled it off and gotten one or two positive reviews, but not now, not today. I mean honestly, can anyone truthfully say she even compares to the grace and beauty of Ingrid Bergman? #2, "Casablanca" is a classic, and along side movies like "Citizen Kane" and "gone with the wind", they are timeless. none of them ever need to be remade, they're pertfect in their original form. #3 How on earth, are they going to find someone to cast in Bogey's role? Come on!! His name is synonymous with this movie!! It just cant be done! #4 Otto is right, it sounds like a political vehicle pure and simple. I personally dont see anything good coming out of this.If they even seriously consider this, they might as well go ahead and cast Michael Jackson for the part of Rick, because its just going to end up as a really bad idea anyway..
Madonna is going to Iraq dressed up in that get-up with an RPG in one hand and in the other a cig ? wha .......... peace baby the movie should be quite laughable
You're too picky, I have nothing against Balzacquiennes Michael Jackson would be a good idea, he's white at least! But if he's going to play von Stauffenberg i'd suggest Tom Cruise
I have four copies of Casablanca, an old one in Beta format, another in VHS, a DVD with extras, and a colorized version of it. In principle, I don't mind people doing remakes of old or classic films. Remakes are generally hit or miss. I have to agree that it would really be a bad idea to remake this movie, especially if it's going to be set in Iraq. As for Madonna's movie career, she's been in what I believe are some good films and bad ones. I like the way she played Evita Peron and her role in the women baseball players movie (which I unfortunately can't recall the title right now!)
well as I mentioned an RPG in one hand, one can only hope it misfires and ............ Oppppppppppppppppppps ..... sorry blondie
Italian Job remake - Argh! Alfie Remake - Aaaaaaarrgh!! Casablanca remake - ?????? - AAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Charlie & the Chocolate factory was OK though . Cheers, Adam.
She is "somewhat" talented, has a decent set of "pipes" (vocal chords). but... she's a SK_NK ! (the missing letter is not u) I just can't get past that. (sorta like Richard Gere and ...um...you know)
Yes! That's right. Thanks. I think the problem with Madonna is that she doesnt know she has a problem.
I stumbled on this thread and was appalled. I did a bit of sleuthing and can find no reference to the rumor of Madonna hoping to reinvent Casablanca after the first week of April 2008. Does anyone else have more current information? I hope this idea is dead in the water.
