As much as I love armor,I have a passion for WWII aircraft as well. There is no comparison to these historic birds.
Ome-Joop already posted the link to Flugwerk who are reproducing the Fw190. I believe another company in the States is reproducing Hayabusas/Oscars, and a company (I think in Canada) is building a brand-new Mosquito. It seems the biggest problem with resurrecting and rebuilding the old designs is finding the engines for them, the Oscars I think use modern US engines but the Mosquito is going to use original Merlins. As the supply of these is limited it's going to make the number of new-build Mosquitoes distinctly finite unless someone can persuade Rolls Royce to produce a new run...
i just saw a video of the fw 190 it is very nice but, yes there is a but, the engine sound do not sound apropiated fot the wurger
I read somewhere that the modern jet engines powering the new 262s are mounted inside shells that look like the wartime Jumos (the new engines are smaller than the old Jumos), so that when the nacelles are opened up, they will have an authentic look. Can anyone confirm this?
you are right about that, since the new engines are lighter than the original jumo, they decide to do that
I remeber watching a show on the restoration of an ME 109.They gave a functional engine(not sure of the type) to Rolls-Royce to test and spec out. When RR returned the engine they said it was so well manufactured that it would be difficult to reproduce.
To bad about that movie Strange that the Flugwerk FW-190 with a higher rated engine (1900 hp against the BWM 1700 hp) and lighter construction (450Kg lighter) performes less (max speed 635 Kp/h against 654 Kp/h)! Can anyone explain this?
i found it!!!! http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/download.php?id=10506 the bad thing is that you need to register to see it!!!!
