If you (like me) take an interest in fortifications, there are two places in Norway that I can strongly recommend, one near Kristiansand in the south and one near Trondheim in the middle of the country. Batterie Vara aka Mövik Fort some 8 kilometers outside Kristiansand displays the only remaining 380 mm battleship gun (Bismarck type) in the world today in a perfectly restored bunker and with plenty of derelict bunkers to see in the vicinity. Some two hours drive from Trondheim you will find Festung Austraatt with its magnificent triple tower (3 x 280 mm) from the battle cruiser Gneisenau, mounted in a five-storey underground bunker in almost mint condition. Both places offer guided tours in English and are absolutly worth your while if you are in the area. Trondheim also have two huge U-boat bunkers, but they are not open to the public. I will be happy to provide travelling advise and other details to anyone here if interested. Br Dan
