and for the now and then lovers. Note the original call code is 22 , not 23 ! http://www.gastoneve.org.uk/company.html
It's a small shame a modern diesel engine's being used for the running restoration, but who am I to criticise! More power to any of the chaps working on these old dears. These appear to be the chaps (owners?) doing the work: http://balmoralgreen.com/les-blind-s/sherman-m4a2-2.html Translation: http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fbalmoralgreen.com%2Fles-blind-s%2Fsherman-m4a2-2.html&act=url
I suppose they use a modern diesel to save money and gas. Also if the previous engine was destroyed they would have a hard time to find spares. The aim is to get the tank ready for the 70th anniversary of the liberation this august.
I found the information. The tank will be completely restored. Bodywork, mechanical and painting. Total cost: € 20,000. The engine will not be replaced. Parts no longer exist ... It will be a modern diesel engine (V8 bi-turbo Deutz). http://www.ouest-france.fr/70-ans-apres-le-char-de-la-2e-db-reprend-la-route-1892464 View attachment 20503 Eric
