BBC NEWS | Europe | My father was Hitler's bodyguard In her home in the Bavarian countryside, Brigitta Jacob-Engelken shows me her childhood photos. She has one remarkable picture. It is of her as a baby tucked up in a pram. Nothing special about that, you might think. Until you discover where the pram came from. It was a gift to her parents from Adolf Hitler's mistress. "My mother got it from Eva Braun," Brigitta tells me. "And clothes, too." That is because Brigitta's father, Rochus Misch, was part of Adolf Hitler's inner circle. He worked in the Fuehrer's SS protection unit as a bodyguard, a courier and a telephone operator.
Great Sfuff KAI.... Nice story... I recently watched an documentary on the history channel concerning the possible escape of Eva and adolph hitler in which MR. Misch was interviewed saying he did in fact see hitler dead on the sofa, however, It was said in the interview that Mr. Misch had changed his story several times and was not considered relieable.....IF I'm remembering this correctly, Best Regards Tablesaw
From what I've read, Germany before Hitler and Nazism was a pretty tolerant place and more open to other cultures in comparision to other European nations. Jews in Germany had also integrated themselves pretty heavily in German society, some going as far as adopting German customs/traditions over Jewish ones (which if I guess you look in the grand scheme of things is pretty common for a lot of religions). But I see your point, if they joined the S.S., Nazi party, etc it might be rare to see. Other than that, great read!
