Hello everyone. I haven't been on here for a while mainly because of being really busy. Yesterday, my dad stopped over and told me that his uncle was a Marine at Iwo Jima and was going to be one of the flag raisers, but he turned it down for some reason. I don't know if he's in the video or the group photo that was taken after, but all I know is he was there and my dad, like me being a vet, takes this stuff seriously. Can anyone do a search or get information on my great-uncle.....Matthew Wasko. I'm sure he was from Pennsylvania and that's all I know about him. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I already checked out the thread on here with the sites for searching but my search came up blank.

OOPS!!! I just realized that I posted this in the wrong section. I thought it was the right one and I made a mistake.

There's a book called The Bloody Battle for Suribaci(sp?) you might want to look up. A good friend and formerer co-woker of my fathers was the third one over the volcano crest. His name was Jim Robeson.
