Just came back from 10 days in Adelaide, and visited the Jet Museum whilst there. Turned up and we were the only two people there...And elderly couple greeted us and unoicked the two hangers just for us. The bloke quickly realised i was an aircraft nerd and dropped all the ropes for me and basically said "have at it!" Jumped into a Mirage III, then a Venom off the Melbourne and then parked myself in a F-86 Sabre! Barely managed to get out of the cockpit with half a mongrel. I was able to stroke and fawn over a Boomerang, a Wirraway, a beautiful P-51 Mustang and make visual love to a P-38...they are big suckers! Before i left he asked if i wanted to help restore a Corsair! I regrettfully told him i live in Darwin and couldn't... Don't you just hate me?
Yes ! All I've been able to do lately is sit around and listen to a WW2 vet reminisce about flying against the Zero and a few anecdotes about the P-51's he flew. Oh and the various planes like the B-25, C-47, C-46, AT-6, P-80's he flew, ICBM's he launched from Vandenburg and islands in the Pacific. and stuff like that.
Yeah really rough trying to remember what we talked about and asking the thousands of questions I had. One question/request for you CAC - PICTURES are good, did ya' take any?
