OK, so Friday night I was invited by a friend to the reunion of the 82nd Airborne 325th GIR. I went, and took this book with me. After introductions were made and small talk ensued, I asked if the members present would be so kind as to do me a favor, which they obliged. Needless, to say, I was humbled and in awe to be in the presence of such men, and I will remember that night for the rest of my life.
I am ridiculously happy for you!!!! Please tell me more!!! Did you get to talk with them, did you take any pictures, what was it like, and are you gonna invite me to the next one!! Just kidding! What a great night! I'm seriously happy for you!!
You lucky dog. Surely it had to be a joy to talk to these good men. I hope you extended our thanks also for their service.
key-stone good on ya man, that is what to do bring the books, let the guys reminesce and sign where they want to, did that with several US 8th air force histories over the eyars, the guys laughing as they looked at themselves from years gone by in their youth and remembering those they loved and friended that are no-longer with them good memories preserved ! E ~
a little side note gents : if you are ever invited to any US reunion of the veterans pleas attend. these are becoming more and more private as our dear vets pass onward, the times have changed to quickly and many veteran associations have cancelled their annual meetings except to meet in a small and private group of 6-8 with spouses. Now is the time and September and October will be a very busy time and possibly the last get-together for many .......... take charge
I confirm. I organise quite a few commemorations. I am inviting widows or descendants because so many veterans are now reaching the last post. Those who are still alive are not always healthy enough to come overseas,so if you guy get a chance don't miss it!
I concur, it did my heart good to see thee men laughing and joking around with each other, so much more full of life than some of my contemporaries. These men need to know that we appreciate all that they did, endured & suffered for us.They seemed to really and honestly tell you about their time in the service, they want people to remember, and we are the catalyst for that. Actually, the Company Commander of K company, 325th GIR is going to the UK next June, and is again climbing aboard a Horsa Glider to make the trip across the Channel and into Normandy. His is the name that is 6th down on my book in the picture. How cool is that?!?! He's like 90 years old!
Hey Keystone, good for you that you met those guys/men. Must have been a teriffic experience, one you will never forget!
