I have recently received the decoration ribbons for my father who served on the USS Terror throughout the retaking of the Pacific up to and including Okinawa. He drove one of the landind craft during invasions.

I have been to a dozen different sites trying to identify what the three ribbons are. However, I can only find the center one with 3 clusters. Evidently that symbolizes participation in four Pacific campaigns.

No where can I identify the two outside ribbons. A picture is attached (hope I did it right). Is there anyone who might help me on this?

    Thanks for any help,

    Jerry Gatch

    Thanks guys,
One problem, though. According to the website provided by the link from LRusso216, the names of the ribbons provided by 36thva2 are incorrect on two of them. I knew the middle one was the Pacific theater. The other two names don't look anything like the pictures provided for those medals on the website. ???????

The correct name for the one on the left is the European-African-Middle East campaign. It has one battle star for a battle within that campaign. I'm pretty sure that's what it is. The one on the right is the American campaign ribbon, but the colors are faded.

    Hello Jerry,
My Dad, who currently 86 years old, also served on the USS Terror during WWII starting at Gaudalcanal and ending at Okinawa. He has been to several of the reunions and I believe that they know each other. My Dad stayed in the Navy Reserve until 1985 and acheived the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. (CWO4). He wants to be buried in his uniform and I am currently beginning the search for new campaign ribbons because the old ones are either missing or in bad condition.

Will you please offer some advice as to where to obtain information on which ribbons he qualifies for, and where to obtain them? Also, any advice that you have based on your experience is greatly apprieciated.

    Thanks,

    Rick Dragovich

howdy, rick, welcome to the forum. if you go to the subsection called genealogy and military records, look for a post by JCFalkenbergIII. it shows were to send for a copy of your dads record. you can use that to fill out a request form for a free replacement set of awards.

Hi there Jerry and welcome to the forum.

The three bronze stars on your father's Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal show that he participated in three campaigns (I don't believe the EAME and the Asiatic-Pacific were awarded as just the ribbon).
