I have recently came into possesion of my Grandfathers Discharge papers, like most Men who served in WWII, he didnt talk much of his wartime experience, and when he did, it was lacking real detail.

I have scoured the net trying to find out the history of the Organization he belonged to.

the org. was the 887th Ordnance Heavy Auto Maint. Co (HAM Co.)

ive even gon so far as to request any information that Auberdeen Proving grounds may have on that company, but havent had any luck. unfortunatly, his records was in the batch that caught fire some time ago.

the 887th Ordnance served in both the Rhineland Campaign and Central Europe Campaign.

his name was Ferris Vernon Hewlett. after the war he was hospitalized for a full year due to injuries he sustained a week prior his departcher into the European theater. (according to him, a broken back after getting bucked off a motorbike at APG)

any information that can be given would greatly help!

    Thank you so much!
