Hi there, I recently purchased an EK2 from a private dealer, and I'm not really sure about it.

I'm not saying this seller deals in fakes or anything, and I'm not accusing him... yet.

Basically, the cross arrived and it is incredible condition for its age. I know this is possible, but it looks like a really nice piece of shiny stainless steel. The dates are also not very defined and it hardly weighs anything. I don't know much so I don't know how to tell if it's fake or not. The maker's mark is also a bit dodgy. He says it's an arrow which was used by MM24 but I doesn't resemble anything.

I've attached various pictures, so some opinions will be appreciated!

Im no Cross expert-except on the 20 or so crosses I have but, I can tell you without a doubt--the ribbon on yours is original. ;-))

Now, based on mine-and mine are all the real deal--I don't see anything wrong w/ yours. I have 2-3 that are similar to yours in wear and colors and such.

Hi Will, i'd be glad to post pics of mine but don't have the ability to do so and have to mail images to friends to do the dirty work for me ;-)) However, I recently took pics of some of my stuff including the EKs-and will be sending the CD to Erich to post for me. I used one of those disposable cameras--and the pics came out much worse than I had hoped. Anyway, they will be posted sometime soon.

    On the EK ribbon:

You can tell if it's original period or not-just be feeling it-and or rubbing the ribbon together. If you do rub the ribbon together and if it glides smoothly when doing so--then the ribbon is original period. If it feels rough when rubbing the ribbon against itself-it's not a period ribbon.

    ope this helps? ;-))
