hi i just came across your site whilst looking up a certain sandhurst history prof and thought i would join i am a history buff i love history all history but my main areas are the claasical greek myths of homer and such ,the roman era ww1 ww2 and yes ww3 see the nial ferguson doc about ww3 most ppl missed ww3 cos it was fought by proxy in the 3rd world i am the child of older parents im 37 and my father is now 80 so he grew up in the war firstly in norfolk then moving up to gratham wen his mother came here for war service in the weapons factorys i should also mention he was a national service man with the royal horse artillery and he was a bombadear his rank was substantive apparently it ment he could only lose his stripies by court martil during his service he was stationed in egypt around the time of the suez crisis tho i dont know exact dates he was a driver and he drove an SP called the sexton of witch the mucklebrough collection down at waybourne have an example my mothers father was an RAF fire and rescue , i have his 40s goverment issue fire axe somewhere and his respirator and when my nan pass,s (hopfully a long time away yet) of all the family iv been choosen to receive his medels as im the only one with an interest in history im also the youngest gran child and so was kinda his favorite as u can see my spelling sucks as i have learning difficulties tho 30 years ago at school i was just backward or thick , tho my difficulties are only with reading and spelling and tbh after 10 years of using the internet iv managed to memorise most of the words i use so due to my slow reading and the need to often read things several times b4 i see whats actully there on the page i mostly take in my history thru televisual means like the now gone militry history channel and the discovery history and the bbc yesterday channel i do get a fair amout of history off the web and ofcourse youtube tho any youtube doc will always need cross referencing with your own research and tbh with how bias the corporate media is becomming you now need todo it anyway im also into PCGaming , esp ones with a historical slant very much enjoyed crawling all over renassance italy in the assassincreed games recognised some near historicaly acruate secquences in a few ww2 games i forget witch game it is but the attack by easy company on d'day on the german guns is recreated in one of them call of duty i think actully that just reminded me of somthing thats been niggleing me for a long time now is there a map of the pacific showing the route of the island hopping campaign but with dates and ofcourse showing the army macarthur advance too a nice big map of the pacific and then starting at gurdocanal with nice big arrows showing where then went next and the date think of a map for kids showing the progression of the pacific campaign maybe with some nice colour coded arrorws to make it easy to follow think idiot proof cronology map if anyone knows where there is one pleas link me anyway thats all i feel like divulging right now see you in the forums thibor

Welcome...I think though you will find there are those on this forum that did not miss ww3. Many of us are cold war warriors..in the hot sense as well as cold.
