Welcome to the Forum, Muley. Tell us a bit more about yourself. Where are you from? How did you find our little slice of historical heaven? Etc.

Thanks for the nice reception everyone.

The reason I joined is because I could tell from reading the threads that you guys are very knowledgeable. I think I'm going to learn a lot from you.

So I guess my main interest is the U.S. Army. My dad was an infantryman, and was badly wounded at Remagen. One of my uncles went to N. Africa with the 1st I.D. He landed on Omaha Beach, and I think that was where he was wounded and sent home. Another uncle served in the horse cavalry based at Ft. Bliss, but got out before the war. My fathers big brother was a Seabee in the Pacific, but I don't know much about what he did. He did give me a Japanese rifle and a couple of bayonets when I was a kid. One was a fighter pilot in Europe P-51s. Someone told me he was an ace, but I don't know that for certain. I do know he flew his own plane into town once in a while and took me up a few times when I was in my early teens. It was a lot of fun although he sometimes scared me a little.
Oh, and two of my oldest uncles tried to volunteer together right after Pearl Harbor. They almost got in a fight with the recruiter because he laughed and said they were too old. They were, but they were still mad about it years later.

I am retired and live in Arlington, Wa., but am traveling right now. Typing on an iPad my wife gave me and it's driving me crazy.

If you are looking for knowledgeable people, this is the right place.

Your family has quite the investment in WW2, I'm looking forward to hearing more in the future.

    howdy Muley.

It probably would not be too hard to determine if your uncle was a fighter ace. post his name, someone might be able to locate him.

You certainly have a military background. Tell us what you know of each man, and we'll do our best to give you more information.

Welcome from another web foot from Bellingham and also a new ipad owner. Beware of the way it can change a word that it thinks is better ( or something). Sometimes I'm amazed at what I just wrote. Would love to hear more about your family heroes.
