I admmit to being mystified as to why knowing exactly what he looked like is of much import. The article also mentioned something about his "stare". If it was a death mask then he was dead when the image was produced. I'm not sure there are many alternatives but to stare at that point.
Who cares what he looked like. It is the writing which counts isn't it? After all think of all your favourite authors, do you know what they look like? If you do did it affect your reaction to their writing?
I remember reading there are still questions as to the true identity of the writer of all those great stories? Anyone hear anything about that?
Not to the majority of Shakespearian scholars there isn't. I understand they get quite irritated by the suggestion.
