Hi Guys. This is my first post on this site and I just thought I would introduce myself, I am 54 years old and live in York, I work as a Technician for Network Rail, you will see by my username that I am ex 1st Royal Tank Regiment, I was Gunner/Driver on Chieftain Main Battle Tanks, I joined the tank regiment as my grandfather served in tanks during WW2, he was 7th Armoured Div, 8th Army (Desert Rats) he served in the 40th Tank Battalion then transfered to the 3 Kings Own Hussars to make up crew numbers, he served in North Africa and Italy, my family has a tradition of Cavalry going way back to the Crimea with G/G/Grandfather serving with the Cherry Pickers at Sabastopol, he was at the charge of the Light Brigade. I came across this site as a link fro WW2 Talk. I hope to have many happy chats and heated debates, all in the fun of the forum. Regards tankie1rtr
