because of the gas crises we are trying to get local reenactments going we have lots of Germans and Russians but only one thats right one GI in the Hot Springs area.lol guess we need to turn up the American burner . perhaps we can shame them provoke them to jealousy. whatever it takes or just hold ost front battles
As soon as I have some time (very soon hopefully ) I will make it to Hot Springs and see about this Re-enactment group you have there, no matter what the gas prices are. The whole thing sounds very fun.
the Russian Marshall who won the war thats how he was described in the latest issue of Armchair general. Marshal Zhukov. anyway there is really nothing to see so far we are still in labor pains until we are really and truly born, in my opinion that will be when we host our first event be it ever so small and it is a sucess. when we have structure and organization money to do things with officers who know how to do their jobs and do them members who enjoy being in each others company
Kamp out or Biwak my exec Will Hardage proposed a Kamp out at his house with tentage and campfire in uniform for mid November . He has a trench system in his yard and between us we have four complete Zeltbahn tents. If you are interested or can make it to Hot Springs at that time let us know. we will sing Volkslieder and tell tall tales and maybe even take the oath NOT
what to bring minimum a uniform and sleeping stuff. a little food too. u should have trousers. cheaper than dirt has Swedish trousers in size 34 for four dollars, boots , suspenders, sleep shirt ,and a hat, all of this stuff is not that hard to find, optional items 1. your own personal zeltbahn 2. kerosene lanterns 3. German Flashlights. 4 Brats. thats wurst not children. 5. a schemel, they sell them at wal mart for 9.95 lol (footstool) or folding wooden chair. now you dont need to sit on the ground and can relax. you will notice i didnt say bring your 98k, i mean you can if your want, but there will be no battle. this is a chance to be casual and have kameradschaft. getting to know each other is of more value than rigorous training at least a first , i mean even in the real Army you spend the first few days in the reception center just hanging out.
how hard is it? Pants, Cheaper than dirt 4.00 sleep shirt Wephaus about 6.95? suspenders Sportsmans guide 8 dollars for two pair. boots well jacks are 20 for east German here and there low boots use current GI ones lots of used ones around. with gemaschen 8 dollars wpg. hat hmmm about 30.00 from surcompany now you look like a casual German, not wearing the tunic or anything. lounging around camp. if you are lucky you can find or make stuff cheaper. yes, there are guys who make their own hats! buy something every pay day and in just a short time you got the basics btw my wife makes German Army socks grey knit with the sizing rings oh (groan )no kidding, yeah. and that is prolly for much later, but if you have no hat we arent excluding you besides some of those east German ones are farby but interesting to convert sportsmans guide sell them for 10 for 8 bucks lol
kamp out my only fear is that only two guys will show up me and Will. I would like to see a minimum of a half dozen. What do you think should we display the third Reich Army Battle flag? should we inculde training time what about meals.? German beer? I need input. If u have any thots, feel free. :
Ditch the flag (I assume its effect is the same as that of a Confederate army flag on the PC-thinking minds out there), and get some good German beer and Currywurst!
no flag I wil conced that we dont need to look like the 1930 German American bund meetings lol. still i need some sort of ceremonial object, how about a 21st Inf Division guidon?. we could put toether a guidon failrly easily. the Division symbol is a knight with a sword on a shield and a mustard colored circle. Risa has already made up membership cards withthat on it. anyone want to join we could get decoder rings too lol
special recruits I need a link not a url just a person to the military and Law enforcemnt and I may have found both in Tony a sherrifs dept cadet and an army reserve Recruiter named SFC Patrick anyway they both gave me land line and email addys
Why? well because they have access to buliten boards and chat about stuff and junk and this hobby grows by word of mouth too btw I need to schmooze with the ACW reenactors too and ther are some here. there are sites on line and meetings and reenactments are held in several locations around HS. there was the battle of Farrs Mill (Essex golf club) at the end of westinghouse by hiway 270 (Malvern Av) near where the by pass entrance easy and the confluence of the Ouachita river and Gulpha creek much of it is under water now. but the confederates and Union picketts had a skirmish there. they battle also at de gray lake and at the fairgrounds
saturday meeting prolly at arbys saturday on Albert Pike at 8pm we also need to walk around by wills house to see the Lay of the Land for tenting and such, Is this exciting, well, I think it is. there are some nice big rocks by the airport we could use for cover in a public battle. I really think that there should be battles inr uins dont you?. simulated war damage the tv has gotten big on ww1 lately has anyone noticed that? it has possibilities
a crowd draws a crowd wenns die soldaten , durch die stadt marschieren , offnene die madchen fenster und die turen. If soldiers march thru town the young girls open the doors and windows. yes sex plays a part in this hobby women and people ingeneral find soldiers very sexy. and I dont think we should exclude the camp followersfrom our ranks so come on girls you can come too.
