    ...tomorrow !

My wife has always wanted to go to the Winter Market, but methinks that Nuremberg may have 'other attractions' if only I can sort of accidentally build them into our schedule..... ;)

Hmmm..wonder if there are any good s/hand bookshops there...?

Have a good time, Martin. Don't let the festive atmosphere distract you from what is really important! ;)

I assume you have read up on the N'burg trails or perhaps Middlebrook...He wrote a book on the Nuremburg raid, did he not??

He most certainly did, Stevin - tragically for the RAF, on that particular night, the Nurembergers were not even aware that they had been the target of a raid......

As usual - it's beginning to sound as if I need three weeks , not three days.... [IMG]

    Nice one Martin!
My wife recently booked a holiday on a farm in the Somme Valley for us next year...up the road from Agincourt and down the road from the old RFC field at St Omer!
Technically, it's within driving distance of Disneyland Paris for the kids....can see a major investment in Major & Mrs Holt's battlefield guides coming up though! ;)

And not far from the V2 sites at Wizernes and Watten..... ;)

What about the Stadium and the Court Hall, the beginnings and the end of the nazi régime?

Very interesting trip, Martin. Hope you have a very nice trip. Good luck! ;)

If you don't sleep, you can get some 16 more hours to do things… :D [IMG]

Just got back from a very nice weekend.

Among the Lebkuchen, Gluhwein, Nuremberger Bratwurst...found just a little time for WWII interests ;)

Three minutes' walk from my Hotel, found the Hotel Deutscher Hof, Hitler's favoured Nuremberg Hotel complete with the famous balcony built specially for him to acknowledge the crowds. The place is almost unchanged, is overlooked by the 'tourist trips' and is also now out of business and locked up. Eerie.

And yesterday morning, my wife and I took the tram to see the Reichsparteitag sites. We walked along the Zeppelin Tribune in freezing cold weather, sleet starting to fall. We stood on the Fuhrer podium with no-one else in sight - a truly weird experience.

And then to the new museum and archive centre in the never-completed Congress Hall. Effective and very well thought-out.

    A memorable weekend !

Great ! I found a little Antik shop where I bought 2 original Reichsparteitag badges plus a miniature Stadt des Reichsparteitags beer stein...

Er, that was the sort of Christmas shopping you meant, wasn't it ? ;)
