.....again ! The place we stayed last Autumn was so nice that I've persuaded my wife that we should go again ! We're off next Saturday for a week and....by the purest coincidence ( ).....next Sunday just happens to be the day of the 60th Anniversary of the Liberation International Militaria Fair in Bastogne ! Just half-an-hour from where we'll be staying....heheheheheh
Wow...what coincidence.... Have a good time, Martin! I am sure you will, the Ardennes will be beautiful this time of year and it will be much more comfterable walking the battlefields.
Martin, and take many pictures, not just of your wife. throw yourself in a few so we can see what you look like, and most important keep the journal(s) in hand and take in-depth notes. I am envious............ thanks again for the sweet Lanc pics and Gisela article Erich der Alt
i would enjoy visiting Normandy, and the Ardennes sometime in the future, maybe when i get out of the army (after i join :S) i would love that, me and my reenacting buddy both think though that we wouldn't be able to keep from crying if we were to go to the beaches...but.. er [ 15. Ahhh....Bastogne! To be there again...it feels like yesterday when I was freezing my B***s off in a tent in February this year. What I liked when I was there was the fact there were NO tourists and I enjoyed the creepy solitude of the panzers dotted around the countryside...but Bastogne, give me that with a huge crowd and vehicle festival anyday... I can't think of a better place to be for the 60th anniversary...sod the beaches Have a great time Martin!
I thought of you as I roamed around the Bastogne foxholes, BWD ! Got into some serious walking around Bizory and Mageret - there's still a lot to see if you are patient. The local tourist offices and museums are really getting 'geared up' for the commemorations, and all the 3rd Army kilometre markers are getting a fresh coat of paint....
