Other than Shelby Stanton's book, is there another legitimate Order of Battle book for US units in WWII? Appreciate your input. Thanks.

I quit looking after I found Stanton's book. He set the standard.

OK guys, I went ahead and bought Stanton's book. However, in the back of my mind I vaguely remember something put out by the GPO some many years ago dealing with this subject...I think?

There was a post war US Army publication that covered the ETO, let me look around, I may have a PDF somewhere.

Yes, there is an division order of battle published by the theater historian for the ETO, about 600 plus pages, but a whopping 36 MB, just a bit more than can be posted here.

Let me see about chopping it up

Nope, that doesn't work too well either. Chopped it down to a 1st section which only got it thru the 2 ID, and it won't go lower than 13 Mb.

So, here's what you do. Go to the Combined Arms Research Library at
CARL's ContentDM Digital Library Welcome page

Click the GO button for advanced search

In the box next to "All of the words" type in "order of battle"

Next click the "clear all" button at the bottom under "select specific collections" and then click the check box next to "World War II Operational Documents"

    Now click the "search" button

When I go through those steps, the ETO OOB is the 12th one down on a mildly interesting list.

Was there one published for independent units, Corps and Army level, et. al.?

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm going to read through a ton of old posts now so I can catch up on what's going on around here.
