During World War II what was the organization of the American Navy Department? Did the Commandant of the Marine Corp report directly to the Secretary of the Navy or the Chief of Navl Operations? Did the CMC report to both? Thanks for any responses SK85
This was before the creation of the Joint Chiefs of Staff so IIRC the Commandant reported to the CNO. I might be wrong though.
