I recently reinstalled this game which was one of my favorites from years back. I was prompted to do this because I found a website that had lots of custom Campaigns people had created for it. The website is; (Steve's PG2 campaign page.) I downloaded several that sound interesting but I can't figure out how to load them into PG2. I updated the game to the mod patch as instructed, but there's no instructions as to how to load the campaigns. I never modified any campaigns in the original game and am wondering if anyone on this forum customized some of the campaigns or loaded a mod and can help me do it? I'd really appreciate any help. PG
Ah, one of my favorites that I still play. Unfortunately, I have not loaded any mods on it. But experience tells me that they would be treated the same as a custom game so you may try looking under custom games. I'm going by memory at this point, which is asking too much , but that is where I would start. I will take a look at it tonight. Good luck.
I too have PG2 with no mods as I also went to that site last year and well let's say never again. It may be due to not being totally compatible with XP as I no a couple of friends who can not even get the game installed on there PC's, hit and miss by the sound of it and no solutions that I know of. I of course am one of the lucky ones running PG2 with no problems, are well such is life.
I too am running it on XP with no problems. Just lucky I guess. I never attempted to load mods on it though. I even have my son hooked on it. Him and his damn Sdkfz 232 taking all of my towns in the rear.
I am one of the unlucky ones who cannot run it on XP. When I try to install it says "Must be run under 95" .It's a bit frustrating because I enjoyed this classic.
Hi Skipper67, Have you selected, under "properties/compatiability" for panzer2.exe to "run this program in compatibility mode- Windows 95"? This works for me. A surprising number of my old games run in this mode. pg
Yes the solution to the XP problem is checking the 95 compatibility box on the executable. The mod campaigns should work if you have saved the map files in the scenarios folder. Oh and if anyone wants to play via email I am up for it.
Well I tried the compatibility trick. It gives me the menu, but when I click it it won't go any further. I tried both the install and the setup and the auto exe too.
This dose not always work but it's worth a shot to find out. I tried this on Panzer Elite and failed so I just gave the game away to a friend who had a older PC.
It should always work with PG2 and Win XP. ... If I could just look at the compy for 30 min... Skipper what version of XP do you have?
