Saw and bought this one recently. Thought it was worth a look again. Equipment seems somewhat dodgy but barring the historical accuracy police you might enjoy this one. Have you seen this one and what do you think? Makes me wonder what other films I have missed.
have a look thro this list, a lot of good classic ww2 films were made here in the u.k. ray.. 100 Greatest War Movies
Thanks, I'll check it out. Watched the Train today. What a trainwreck That's just a joke, I liked the movie.
Hi Pete, The Train is an excellent movie. Im currently trying for a couple of great shots showing Burt Lancaster either at the train station or on the train itself-from a dealer selling original press releases. These are somewhat expensive so I dont know if ill manage to get them or not? Forgot to mention that I just rewatched: A Bridge Too Far-yesterday and I think it gets better and better with each viewing-though it was always a favorite movie of mine to begin with ;-)) Late last night just watched the animated version of: the Death of Superman-called: Doomsday. Great animation as always and, I had not known that the voice of Supes was none other than Adam Baldwin. I always kinda liked him since the My Bodyguard and Full Metal Jacket-days.
'Play Dirty' isn't actually that bad - it was written by 'Zeno' who, as Sergeant Val Allerton, had a very full WWII career which included Arnhem ; and also a Life sentence in Prison post-war for murder......
One of the reasons I liked the movie was it expressed the long periods of boredom interrupted by short periods of intense hell. Sure the accuracy police could pick it apart but I'd say it was good enough to enjoy. The combat seemed more realistic than Jerry running infront of the Allied machine gun in a futile gesture of attack.
Haven't seen Play Dirty for a while. Seem to remember it was better than Tobruk. Good to see The Train mentioned - has to be one of the best war movies.
