Hi, this is my first post, and am looking forward to posting in these forums. I am soon leaving to Europe, and will be in Poland. I will be in Warsaw, Krakow, and Opole. I have a metal detector, and have friends who live in the forests near these cities, and was planning on doing some scouting around where the battles took place. I have done some research, and have found some cities where battles took place, but not areas. Could you guys please give me links on where to find some information about the location on battles during the Blitzkrieg? Thanks!
Welcome to the Forums Polska ! I don't know too much about Polish battles but if you talk to some of the men and women over there who are in their late 70's and early 80's, I am sure they can help you in your search and would be happy for the interest in the war.
Welcome Polska! Unfortunately it is like TA152 said that the older locals know best, I guess. HereĀ“s some ideas for you to go to the places, but then again propably more stuff is in the ground after the 1944-45 battles than the 1939 battles ( if you were after Blitzkrieg battles ) The directions of German attack http://www.theartofposter.com/17l.gif Something to read on 1939 battles: http://2ndww.tripod.com/Poland/poland.htm the 1944 phase: http://www-cgsc.army.mil/carl/resources/csi/Armstrong/ARMSTRONG.asp
