My great uncle was in the Norwegian Merchant fleet during the war and died in 1943, is there any place where i can get a hold of his service records?

Yep, you should be able to get his records. However since you are not considered next of kin you will only have limited access. For instance there's a good chance the discharge record you get will be censored, I think that means they will edit out all the personal information.

I have been having issues with my Comp. I'm using my phone to post this so I can't add a link. All you have to do is Google Evetrecs, it should be the first result. Once the page loads scroll down and you should find a link for Standard Form 180. That is the form you will use to submit your request. I actually just did this for my great uncle just waiting for a response.
