does anybody know how the bullets in machine guns in the side of the pzl 11 got out without hitting the engine???
Like most engine/fuselage mounted guns on single engine planes since WWI, they were probably placed to fire clear of the engine itself and synchronised to that they did not fire when the propellor was in the way.
Possibly they do, I haven't been able to find a decent 3-view or good picture, it's possible the barrels were placed between the cylinders of the Pzl-11's radial engine, the Soviets did a similar thing with the Polikarpov I-16 I believe.
well I have a model of it that I recently built and it looks like the bullets just go right through the engine but I have to do some more reaserch and look at some more pictures
This thing? It looks like there is a gap that allows the rounds to travel through the engine between the cylinders. The prop will just be syncronised with the guns. FNG
If it's a radial engine then there are gaps between the cylinders, presumably the guns fire between cylinders and are synchronised with the prop.
for drawings of P-11c go to: http://www.beuliland.com/ then go to Segunda Guerra Mondial it is among other countrys in last column.
