I'm seeking clarification on proper display of this pin. I understand it was awarded to flyers completing a tour of duty normally considered to be 30 Ops and a bar added upon the completion of a second tour etc. My Father-in-law, W L (Mickey) Reinhart, completed 97 Ops however after his first tour of 30 Ops on Hampdens as a Navigatior he served an additional 67 Ops with the 109 Squadron on Pathfinder Force duties. I have read that in this group 45 Ops was considered to be a tour. My question is what is the proper version of the Ops Wing pin to display with his medals ( DFM and DFC), an Ops Wing Pin with one or two bars?
I have had no responses to this question as yet. If anyone has a link to an authority that I could contact please advise. Bob
Bob, here are a few links to try. Depending on where you are try phoning Veterans Affairs the people at the phone centre should be able to direct you to a resource. Also try the air force museum National Air Force Museum of Canada or even contact the Canada War Museu.
