    Hi

My wife's grandfather, it turns out, served with the East Yorkshire Regiment in the second world war and was captured somewhere, we know not where nor when, but do know that he ended up at Stalag 344 in Lamsdorf, Poland.

I have his British army number and his PoW number, but does anyone know if there are records available on German held British PoW's in Germany or indeed Russia who freed the prisoners in March 1945. Any clues hints or otherwie would be gratefully received, I have put in a request to the ICRC but anything from them will take time.

Are there any records anywhere around that will show when and where he was when captured would be gratefully received too.

    Thank you in advance

    John Hartshorn

I deleted the other post with the similar request. There is no need to post the same question in two threads. Just put it where you think it best belongs. Welcome to the forum. I hope you find some information on your quest.
