Have also decided to write my own rules due to the amount of info on the web. Have got a few things I am curious about, not sure if they will be included in the rules: 1 What was the 'usual' range of engagement, because I have heard it was mostly under 500m, which if true means I should tailor the terrain accordingly & concentrate on that kind of range instead of 0-1500m as in most rule sets 2 Radio/Comms range. Did all German AFVs have radios & so what spacing could they have compared to the French & British who I read in some rules 'did not have radios'. What form of comms was there if no radios & therefore what separation for those tanks? Can come up with some more queries but would be grateful for any help (or opinions!) I can get or pointers to good reference material even
Les, This is only speculation, but I doubt the Germans spread their tanks out that much more just because they had radios. 1500 meters is an extreme engagement range for western Europe. There were examples of long engagement ranges in 1944 where the Canadians fought in Normandy, owing to the nature of the terrain. It also seems like the direct fire weapons of the 1940 campaign would have been pushing it to get hits at that range (other than the 8.8-cm AA-gun). Cheers BW
