Sad news indeed. What a great age to reach though.

Well when I saw of his passing I remembered how much I detested his show, and the little "follow the bouncing ball" on the sub-titles. I am surprised he was still alive, and may he rest in peace.

My Dad (who couldn't care a tune in a bucket), loved that show. When Karaoke showed up I was only pleased in one respect. Dad had early onset Alzheimer's, and didn't go to any place where one was operating. That was ok down in the basement with Mitch Miller, but I would have wandered away if he had started singing Karaoke tunes, mumbling "I don't know the man, I've never seen him in my life, leave me alone, I won't drive him home."

But that said, Mr. Miller brought joy and fun to millions, and he was a H*ell of an entertainer.

I barely remembered he and the bouncing ball thing, but I do remember watching his show (in reruns of course) and that he was, one heck of a good entertainer. I always liked his stuff just like I always liked Stan Jones's tunes too.

I have to admit that seeing the three sets of "Colors" as well as some of the boys and the Greatest American General-ever, on his Horse-Traveller, almost brought a tear to my eye ;-)

Not to my knowledge. Mitch Miller was a "band leader" type, and in his obit I saw no relevant reference to Steve Miller.
