Does anyone know how many of the amroured car Sdkfz 234 Pumas were built? Some sources say 2,300 of all models were built while some say only 500. eg. about 100 of each 234/1- 234/4. Also were all verisions called the Puma? thanks

23 series production figures by type: (all from Chamberlain & Doyle, it sometimes has it's flaws but is usually in the right ballpark).
    231/232 (2cm) - 607.
    233 (7.5cm) - 109.
    263 (radio) - 240.
    234/1 (2cm) - 200.
    234/2 (5cm) - 101. (Puma)
    234/3 (7.5) - 88.
    234/4 (7.5 PaK40) - 88.

    Cheers,
    Adam.

The 7.5cm simple is the short tube support gun.

These are figures for the entire war. It's funny how such small production runs stick in the image of the all-powerful Wehhrmacht!. It would be educational to compare with figures for say the American M-8*. It must be those sexy camouflage schemes.:p :pelvicthruster:

The Sdkfz 234 series served with a number of panzer divisions in both France and Russia from about late 1943 through the end of the war. 2nd Panzer's reconnissance battalion's armored car company with Pumas quite probably came the closest to crossing the Meuse during the Ardennes offensive having almost reached the river before turning back to await arrival of reinforcements.
