I am looking for more info about a plane crash and the pilot of that plane, here is what I know so far:

    Spitfire Serial Nr: R 7218
    Pilot: Jiri MACHACEK, (Czeck) 82560
    145 Squadron, Royal Air Force
    KIA on 8 July 1941
plane crashed in De Moeren, Belgium

Some say his body was recovered but he is still listed as missing. According to the CWGC database his name is on the Wall in Runnymade Memorial, UK

Can anyone find out more about this story?

    Thank you,
    Danielle

Try the book: Jiri: The Story of Spitfire R7218
    http://www.amazon.ca/Jiri-The-Story-Spitfire-R7218/dp/1898941459

It might be available through Library Loan.

At about 16:00 hrs, on 8 July 1941, whilst flying with 145 Sqn, on Circus 40, his Spitfire, R7218, was shot down and crashed in flames by the village of De Moeren near Adinkerke, Belgium.
His body was recovered from the wreckage and, from his personal items, was positively identified.
The death recorded in the local registry book: See also: http://www.rafcommands.com/archive/10285.php

    Edit:
I have started a Loss Record for this crash at the Forum Member editable database at LostAircraft.
