I'm writing from Lion Television, an independent production company. We are currently researching stories for the fifth season of PBS’s History Detectives. History Detectives is a prime-time series about the discovery, documentation and preservation of historic American buildings and artifacts. Our program revolves around the investigation of questions posed by individuals interested in learning the history behind artifacts and their possible historical implications. We're looking to interview a British veteran of World War II who was involved in a "short snorter" club for our program. Ideally we're looking for someone who fought in the war before and after the United States entered the battle. Would anyone know how I might locate veteran who was a member of one of these clubs? I would appreciate any leads. I can be reached at aprilm@liontv.us Thank you. From dear old blighty myself. Not a ww2 vet though...Not a service accronym that I have ever heard of, youll have to expand a little on that one.
Short Snorters were a sort of informal group of (usually) soldiers or individuals that during the WW 2 period would go out drinking / on the town together. A US custom that arose out of this was for each individual in the group to sign a "Short Snorter" dollar bill (of various denomination) as a sort of way to leave their names for posterity.
