Signed copy of Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf for sale - Telegraph

An extremely rare copy of Mein Kampf, signed by author Adolf Hitler and dedicated to a fellow inmate at Landsberg prison, is being sold at auction.

Signed editions of Mein Kampf are very rare and even less so with a dedicated inscription.

It will be auctioned at Ludlow Racecourse on August 13 where it is expected to reach in excess of £20,000.

Historical documents expert Richard Westwood- Brookes from auctioneers Mullock's said the book was a great rarity.

He said: "There would have only been a few hundred early copies of Mein Kampf produced and to see one signed by Hitler himself is very exciting.

"This second edition went out to the public in 1926, but Hitler would have received a few copies before it went into circulation when he was in Landsberg at the end of the year in 1925.

Even if I were a Russian Oligarch multi-billionaire ( which I'm not, by the way...;) ) I'd want this chemically tested, subjected to ultraviolet, and then I'd need to be transported back in a time-machine to actually witness Hitler signing it, before being confident of bidding for it.......:(

Hitler's infamous manifesto sold in UK - Yahoo! News

More than 80 years after it was first published _and later outlawed_ in Germany, a signed copy of Adolf Hitler's infamous manifesto "Mein Kampf" was sold Thursday for 21,000 pounds ($34,900).

The semi-autobiographical work outlining Hitler's anti-Semitic ideology, was sold to an anonymous telephone bidder at an auction in the town of Ludlow in western England.

Mein Kampf is the ramblings of a mad man, just a shame more people at the time did not read the book and saw what was on the way. As for the book signed by author Adolf Hitler well some dork has been taken for a ride.

And I mean, would ever be totally, completely, absolutely 110% certain about that signature...?

    No way.

The money paid aint worth it. At bst and with original signature and such--a few thousand would be more to the value. Hitlers signature is one of the most forged ever-topping even those of George Washington, Abe Lincoln and yes of course-Duke himself-John Wayne.

I have a copy of an original Mein Kampf written in German, published 1925/1927 by Franz Eher, It still has a part of it's dust slip, however it doesn't belong to a set, it is just a single book.

Does anyone know the value of this book?

Hi Mate, I hope you will excuse me for breaking into your post but, I almost spit out the water I was drinking when I read your reply-to which I fully concur with. ;-)) In other words, Brother, you took the words right outta my mouth. ;-)) Who was it who said?: "A SUCKER is born every minute" Oh yessss-P.T. Barnum. Another great quote could be added: " A Fool And His Money Are Soon Parted". Apparently that happened in this case too.

Why do you give it that evaluation, I have read prior sites that state it is worth $3,500.

    Cheers,
    Zac :)

Martin, this is my suggestion: travel in time in the 1920s , find Hitler , make him sign a few copies and then shoot him before returning with the copies. This would be a nice "what if"

In the world of the secondhand book, there is a whole lot of difference in value between 'Mint' condition and 'Damaged'.

But if he shot and killed him then he would never take power, there is a chance the Nazi's never take power, therefore the Jews never get prosecuted, ww2 never happens with Hitler, his views are never known, therefore the book wouldn't be such well known and a signed book would not be nearly as valuable as it would be now.:D

Instead of just shooting Hitler, how about this? While Hitler was in Vienna, Stalin was there as well before WW1 broke out. Shortly before Hitler left Vienna, Iosef Dzhugashvili, aka; Joseph Stalin, at age 33 was an up and coming Bolshevik.

He had been sent to Vienna in January 1913 to study the "Austrian situation." He rented a room just off the NE corner of Schonbrunn Park for a month and while there, working with the German socialists, wrote a Marxist tract; "Marxism and the National Question".

While Dzhugashvili was there, Hitler continued to visit his favorite Schonbrunn Park from a different Men's Hostel (the Mannerheim), the finest in Vienna until he departed for Munich in May of 1913. Perhaps the two (who were to become adversaries years later) crossed paths in the park. One working on his Marxist essays, and Hitler busy sketching.

Hmm, Hitler in his failed attempts to get into the Vienna Fine Arts Academy, and Stalin writing an essay on Communism. Whether they ever met or not is moot, no common language. If they did it was probably a polite "nod" at someone else in the park, or maybe a "tip" of the hat brim.

Now, what about having said time travel ability, go back to when both Hitler and Stalin were enjoying the same park, kill them both and disappear into the "future". Might have been seen as "disassociated murders" in the park.

Hmmm, wonder how much grief those two deaths might have saved the world? Oh well, we wouldn’t have a reason for this forum then would we! Good thing that even if time travel is perfected it can (theoretically) only work from the time it exists "forward", not into the time it didn't exist.
