Hi, Thank you for taking the time to look. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about either Gunner Walter Lambert, 17052 Royal Garrison Artillery or his suspected brother Bertie George Lambert, 40986. I have their index cards, but I cannot find much information elsewhere! Can you Help?
hello MerlinSpits Are your men WW1 or WW2? If you havnt done so already, try www.WW2talk.com - the sister site to this one, it is much more British based. Good Luck with your research.
Thanks Andy They are WW1, I tried the Great War Forum, but they didn't allow me to post! So I have tried here! Regards
Why were you not able to post there? (make sure your regisetered first)....their always a friendly bunch. beside that you could try and see if the Royal Garrison Artillery have a website, to get in contact with directly.
I have registered they just seem to be having some technical difficulties, which doesn't allow me to post! I have tried the website, but as both men were privates there is little or no information to be found! Regards
oh right, that should be sorted out soon hopefully, Yes I've had the same problem in researching lower ranked men in the past, Im afraid if the medal index cards don't show any extra information (which they sometimes do), then they probually are not mentioned in the war diary either - being privates, etc be no harm to check and see if there are any relevant books written about the RGA (relevant actions, battles or movements of the men....you may even get lucky with them being mentioned somewhere). Afaid I can't help much more then that - good luck
Kew sounds like it could be worth a visit; Looking for records of a British army soldier after 1913 | The National Archives Other than that i found nothing specific online, sorry - and good luck
Unfortunately It doesn't really help, as It can only tell me his MIC as far as i have found! Thank you very much anyway!
