I'm not sure whether this is the correct forum for this posting so Moderator, please feel free to move it if necessary.

My father was a retired SFC in the US Army. I was doing research on his awards and decorations and assorted appurtnances and needed to review the official criteria for these, including information on the specific geographical parameters for the campaign medals and other requirements. I found the following army regulations to be very helpful and I therefore recommend them to the NOVICES in these forums:

    1. AR-600-8-22 Military Awards
    2. AR-672-6 Armed Forces Decorations and Awards
    3. AR-672-1 Unit Citations and Campaign Participation
    4. AR-672-3 Unit Citations and Campaign Participation

Using these sources, I found that my father was entitled to a Star on his American Defense Service Medal; qualified for the Army of Ocupation-Japan; is entitled to the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation and also the Republic of Korea War Service Medal. In addition, I suspect that he may have been short-changed 2 Overseas Service Bars for WWII and possibly 1 more bar for his Korean war service.

I found a listing of all of these Army Regulations and more at:

    http://www.army.mil.usapa/epubs/600_series_collection_1.html

Each regulation is available via PDF or XML in its entirety. The Citations' regulations are particularly intensive/detailed. Good hunting
