Standup Comedy

Some people dont like Lisa Lampanelli. I find her refreshingly obnoxious. She targets everyone...She's not a freak like Louis CK-(pervert, look it up). He makes me laugh too, but is super creepy.
Favourite all time is prolly George Carlin. Like the old Don Wrinkles.

She's not bad. Edgy. Louis is very creepy but I can't help cracking up. Funny you started this post. My wife and I went to the casino a couple nights ago and stayed the night (first day out without the kiddies in an age). So suffice to say we let the money flow along with the drinks. She drags me into a comedy show. The first couple guys were god awful, but the headliner was raw but, with a nice buzz, I left with my sides hurting.

 

I've seen videos of some of Robin Williams stand up comedy routines and I've never laughed as hard to a stand up comedy routine like his. Hilarious stuff. Louis is a little creepy, but I still get some good laughs.

 

Robin was funny. His best times were rocket fueled, which may have eventually led to his untimely death.
Standup is difficult and takes its toll, booze and drugs. Not sure of any successful comic who is straight.
Dat Phan , maybe. He won a Last Comic Standing, although all the other comics hated him, saying he wasn't funny (opinion, but agree).

Well Hell! It seems like he was always touring in PA back in the 1990s & early 2000s. I haven't heard he was in this area recently though.

 

Read Lenny Bruces' bio. He felt he could stretch the envelope by using comedy. ..He was so drug addled, his comedy turned black and utterly unfunny.
But the times/people/business back then are a fascinating read. Reminded me a little of future Hunter S Thompson, and wonder now if Hunter wasn't a little influenced by him.

I liked the "Roasts" alot, Justin Bieber looked like at times he could not believe what he heard as he turned on the "bambi eyes"....

 

That beiber roast was completely manufactured by the brats management team...He had been getting a lot of bad press- being a bratty punk, egging his wealthy neighbors house, running around the neighborhood on atv's, abandoning a pet monkey in Germany(?), getting into fights where he had his security do the fighting, his attitude, etc etc etc.
The final product of the roast was manicured, even though there some real zingers...look/justin can take a joke/hes not so bad.
Justine was a talented innocent boy. Now he is a complete ass. The jr white chris brown.

Sam Kinison was one messed up dude! How does a pentecostal preacher go from there to... there. But he was one funny. He could even shock me, and I'm not easily shocked.

 

I could never get over his delivery. His content was funny, but couldn't get past his act.

 

I liked it. You couldn't help but watch and think "this guy should be hospitalized."

 

I also had problems with the screaming. Maybe the screams took people out of their comfortable place, and made them perk up for his act.
Yeah, how do you go from total religion to basically none. Drugs maybe. Cocaine is a destroyer. Makes you funny for a short while, then completely ruins you. Few comics survive the cocaine habit/routine.
Heroine just isn't funny. That is how Lenny Bruce went down the drain.
Sams final moments and words are disturbing.

Used to love Jerry Sadowitz too, but it's hard to see his stuff now without attending actual gigs.

For me, Bill was a social commentator. He also kinda went into Lenny Bruce territory.
