My paternal grandfather, James A. Harrington from the Syracuse, NY area was in the NY National Guard. He was a mechanic in a TD Battalion in the Pacific Theatre. He switched from the National Guard to regular Army in June of 1941 and was sent to Texas in March 1944 before going to the Pacific. I am trying to find out what unit he may have been in. I really do not have any other information. Please let me know if you are able to offer info or suggestions.
    Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, Erin. If you have not already done so, I suggest you obtain his records from NARA. Use this thread to guide you http://www.ww2f.com/military-servic...esting-copies-military-personnel-records.html. Once you have his records, it will be easier to reconstruct his service.

I did find this comment that might also help

The 192nd was in the Pacific (attached to the 32nd Inf.)The 32nd 'Red Arrow' Infantry Division in World War II - 32nd 'Red Arrow' Veteran Association

    Good luck with your search.
