    It is very interesting to read the article on the atomic bombs in the Oct 1945 Popular Mechanics magazine on page 18, and remember the article on the U-235 isotope from the pre-war PM where it was openly talked of as a "huge" powersource waiting to be tapped for peacefull uses.

    Of course the braggadocio on the P-80 as the worlds fastest airplane is to be expected as well on page 8, I suppose.

    Hi Clint,
    Is it me or does it just "seem" the older PM magazines have a lot more information? I could have spent an hour or two reading that one issue. An interesting aside, my Uncle flew the P-80/F-80 and said it was a "Joy" to fly. Quiet and responsive. He was 'delegated' to write the flight manual for it at the base where he was a flight instructor after returning from Japan in 46'. His own aircraft and unlimited flight time, he was a happy camper :)
