    Was just reminded of this gentleman today, when I was reading a FB post about Bader & "Reach for the sky".
    Now wondering how many more amputees flew combat missions.
    This man started off as an FAA pilot, lost a leg and suffered burns after an accident, then recovered enough to go back to flying and later transferred to the RAF and flew Spitfires-

    German classification as "No further use to his country." What a slap in the face but a nice way to get repatriated.
