"The extraordinary story of a war hero who was shot three times, bayoneted and escaped a PoW camp has emerged after his medals were put up for sale.

Sergeant Jack Byrne, a founding member of the SAS, fought at Dunkirk, North Africa, D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge.
He was pierced in the groin with a bayonet at Dunkirk and given up for dead before being rescued and evacuated to England.
He was later shot in the face at close range by a German officer after spending five days wandering alone through the blistering Libyan desert with little water.
The commando later escaped from a German PoW camp by crawling through a latrine drain and stowing away on a Sweden-bound ship to re-join the war.
At D-Day he saw one of his best friends blown up in front of him, had his own life saved when a comrade killed a German soldier poised to shoot him and was later shot in the knee.
In all, the invincible soldier was seriously wounded on three occasions and each time he recovered and returned to fight the Nazis"

Definitely a man who can be called a "hero"!

Great set of medals, just gotta hope they won´t break them apart from each other as together they certainly tell one helluva story!
